Maths, Physics Chemistry, MFL or Computing Internship Role Description

Overall Responsibilities:

To gain experience working in a teaching environment within a school. To develop knowledge, skills and understanding which will support an application into Initial Teacher Training, leading to a career in teaching.

Main Duties include:

  • Observing and supporting teachers during lessons and running an extra-curricular club

  • Leading 1:1 tuition and small group work with students

  • Attending relevant in house training

  • Completing a reflective log’s on subject knowledge for teaching and behaviour management

  • Presentation of learning to Partnership senior leaders and peers

  • Physics interns will also carry out laboratory work, including supporting Science Technicians

  • Support of extra-curricular trips, visits and enhancements as appropriate

  • Teaching a whole lesson in the final week of their internship

Internship Dates and Times:

You will be required to spend three weeks in a school in or around the Benfleet area for an Induction day on Monday 24th June followed by 3 weeks, completing July 12th Interns will work 8.15 am – 4.00pm. Please only apply if you live within a commutable distance.

Pay:

£300 a week for 3 weeks – paid in two instalments and calculated on actual days attended

Knowledge/Experience/Skills required

  • Currently at University studying for a Maths, Physics, Computing or related degree e.g.: Engineering; Accountancy
  • A desire to teach and work with students
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
