Year 6 Transition

Congratulations on securing a place at Harris Academy Benfleet for September 2026!

We are very much looking forward to welcoming all our new Year 7 students and we will be here every step of the way to guide you through this process. We appreciate students will be feeling a range of different emotions towards starting secondary school; excitement, eagerness and some nervousness. Please be assured throughout our induction programme we will be able to answer any questions you or your child may have and we will be able to offer extensive help and advice to allay any worries about starting secondary school. We have a number of different events to ensure an effective and successful transition for all our new starters:

Welcome Evening for Parents: Thursday 18th June

This event is for our parents and carers of our new 2026 cohort. During the evening you will have the opportunity to meet with your child’s Head of Year as well as their Tutor. Please be aware the timings for the evening will differ, as there will be 1-hour sessions running between 5.30pm and 8pm.

Welcome Days for Students: Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th June

Here we invite all our new students to visit us for 2 days to experience taster lessons in their Year 7 curriculum. Both days start at 8.45am and finish at 3.15pm and it’s a great opportunity to make new friends, meet staff and start to familiarise themselves with the school site.

Year 7 First Day of School: Monday 7th September 2026

Students on this day will be the only year group in, other than our Sixth Form, to ensure they have time to settle in. They will spend the day with their tutor, taking part in icebreaker activities, as well as having a tour of the school and attending an enrichment fair. Timings for this day to be confirmed.
